In retrospect, Wei Wuxian should have known it was a damned dirty lie. It was just the unlikeliness of the situation took him by surprise. So did the final reveal of said damned dirty lie. But in the beginning, standing with Lan Wangji in the Yashi of Cloud Recesses across from Lan Xichen and Lan Qiren while facing down an official imperial messenger wearing the most ridiculously oversized hat he’d ever seen in his life… well he’d been forced to take the matter at face value, though not without some protest.

Several people emerged from the darkness, burly men dressed in black. At the center of the group, wearing a white suit that shone like a beacon, was the most beautiful man Wei Ying had ever seen.
Golden eyes blazed like frozen fire from beneath thick black lashes, and his pale, jade skin was flushed from the cold. Long ink black hair hung freely around his shoulders. The only things that took away from the ethereal beauty of the man were the scowl on his face and the gun in his hand.
It gleamed sinisterly in the low light as the man moved, lighting quick, to press the gun to Wei Ying’s temple.
He stopped breathing entirely as the man towered over him.
This beautiful man was going to kill him, and there wasn’t anything he could do about it. Tears sprang to his eyes.
“I didn’t see anything, I swear. Please, just let me go, and I’ll pretend nothing ever happened,” he begged, tears falling down his face, even as the warm metal pressed into the side of his head.
Wei Ying just wanted to sleep. Instead, he stumbled across a murder. In the aftermath, nothing goes the way he expected it to.

This gives Lan Zhan pause. He glances over his left shoulder at Wei Ying. "Why would you want to do that?"
"Because it's fun!" Wei Ying cries. "Oh, if only we had a couple of other people here so we could have a chicken fight. But anyway, you've got two shoulders—and they're big and broad, and it's really rude for you to not let me have this one tiny little thing!"
"Alright, fine."
Lan Zhan bends his knees so that only the tops of his shoulders are above the water. Wei Ying wastes no time climbing aboard, swinging a leg around Lan Zhan's neck to reach the other side and driving Lan Zhan out of his fucking mind because Wei Ying's ass is on his shoulders. Although, admittedly, of all the fantasies Lan Zhan has had of touching Wei Ying's ass, it had never played out quite like this.

He spun around to see the blinding shine of headlights.or Wei Ying loses his memories one fateful night, and proceeds without them, leaving everyone in his past to wonder what happened to him. 10 years later, with a son, a career, and a new life, his past reemerges through his son, career, and not so new life.

Too tired to object, Wei Wuxian did as Lan Wangji instructed. Soon his eyes began to droop. A quiet peace settled in the shadows of Wei Wuxian’s angular face. His cheeks were once plumper, but starvation had ravaged him. Only recently has he begun to improve with steady feedings. Lan Wangji sighed in relief as Wei Wuxian drifted off.
Like this, without pain, Wei Wuxian almost looked youthful again. Like the boy he met at the gate of Cloud Recesses, so profoundly carefree. A victim of his impulses, Lan Wangji leaned down to steal a kiss from the slumbering man’s lips. Soft, warm, pliant—he nearly dared to slip his tongue into that tempting mouth, but he restrained himself.
He pulled away from Wei Wuxian, finding silver eyes staring at him.
"Wei Ying—"
"Kiss me again. Just like that. Please." Then Wei Wuxian closed his eyes, and Lan Wangji descended upon the wanting man once more.

"Lan Zhan," he sweetly complains. "I was behaving. There's no reason to take away my hands."
"I can never be certain with you."
Wei Ying tracks Lan Zhan's movements with interest as he reaches into his desk drawer, but his eyes widen with fear when he pulls out a wooden ruler. "H-hey! Let's not be hasty here! We can talk about this!"
"Enough talking." Lan Zhan's left hand smooths down Wei Ying's flank. Then, the ruler in his right hand comes down with a sharp crack! Wei Ying tries to crawl away, but the hand on his thigh has moved to his calf and holds it firmly in place. Another sharp smack! cuts through the office, followed by Wei Ying's cry of pain.
Lan Zhan hears. And he does it again.
