The working title for this was “I wanted to end pride month with a bang” and I chose to share that with y’all, ‘cause it was, frankly, brilliant.I had this in my drafts, workshopping it, adding on new details, and now it’s gone—but, y’know, one of the hardest pieces of writing advice I’ve ever taken to heart is that when a scene, or the words, or the moment isn’t working, the best thing you can do is delete every fucking word you’re struggling with and start from scratch.

Pomni really was no threat.
She shouldn’t be. She couldn’t be.
Jax knew that one didn’t have a lot of good options when it came to love in the circus. There wasn’t anything remotely attractive physical-wise if that was what one came for. But someone as refined and as beautiful and heavenly as Ragatha falling for an anxiety gremlin like Pomni was simply unheard of. They were just too different.
Ragatha was like Aphrodite - lovely and filled out. Everything about her was soft and sweet, and whatever she went, a scent of strawberries tickled Jax’s non-existent nose. What someone like that could ever see in Pomni, Jax didn’t know.
