Aventurine is so distracted that he does not notice the car door opening at the back until someone heaves a loud sigh. His heart nearly jumps out from the shock. Is he being mugged in this day and age? He could already imagine the headlines in the news the next morning: The senior manager of the of the Strategic Department of IPC, mugged in front of the university of Veritas Prime?
"Good evening...?" He tries to be civil. Perhaps the intruder will be amazed by his impeccable manners and dashing looks to forgo doing heinous crimes against him. Technically, if worst comes to worst, he's got plenty of credits to spare, but he would rather not lose spare change for no reason when he can keep it for another day.

Summary
There was a book on architecture in the middle of the history tomes. It was a paperback, hidden in a corner and covered by a larger book. He only caught a glimpse of it out of the corner of his eye, yet that was enough to make him pause, his heart suddenly a cage for a bird desperate to escape. A blond-haired boy bent over the table, drawing absentmindedly with a soft smile on his lips. On the spine, a small castle drawn. This was one of the few books on aesthetics in architecture sold in Sumeru and, years ago, he had given it to Kaveh as a gift.
How had his book ended up in Sage Reza's office?

“What is this?” Aventurine has to stop himself from outright glaring at Jade. She smiles thinly at him. “Now, now, no need to be so upset. We were as surprised as you are now when we first got him.”
Aventurine turns his head back to look at the boy through the one-way mirror. He estimates the boy to be no older than eight, but with how malnourished he seems he could be older. “And he just turned up at the IPC’s doorstep?” he asks. Jade looks uncertainly at Aventurine for a moment. “Not per se…”
Jade clears her throat. “His father approached an IPC worker and handed him over.” Aventurine raises his eyebrow questioningly. “Okay, then where's the father?” Jade looks him directly in the eye. “He killed himself.” For a moment, Aventurine holds eye contact before breaking away to look at the boy.
“How can you be so sure the boy's an Avgin?”

Alhaitham did not expect to have such a roommate. He thought that the university dormitory would provide him with a small, but at least separate room, but no... He ended up with probably the most annoying, intrusive, overly energetic, and emotional roommate. It seemed that Alhaitham's hearing impairment should have naturally limited his communication with any person. But that was not the case...

She didn’t look particularly old, perhaps five or six, with startlingly white and silver hair tipped with green. Her eyes were intensely green and though she seemed surprised to see Kaveh, her smile was sweet. “Hello,” she said. “Are you Kaveh?”
“Um,” Kaveh said eloquently. “Yes?”
Kaveh comes back from a trip into the desert for inspiration and finds out that Alhaitham's daughter will be staying with them for an undetermined amount of time.
He's perfectly normal about this.

He undoes the latch on the door and lets it swing open, fully expecting to see the bearded face of his landlord only to be met with the vermillion-eyed face of somebody he had given up hope on seeing for the rest of his life.
There’s a long moment of silence. The aching swell of Vivaldi in the background and the rushing in his ears like the ocean waves.
“...Kaveh?”
Kaveh, globally-renowned musician, disappears off the face of Teyvat. Five years later, he shows up outside of Al-Haitham's door with no explanation but to ask for a bed to sleep in.
It's fine. They only have thirteen years of history, after all.

Concrete and plaster rain from the ceiling, a cloud of dust billows from the floor to create a storm rivalling the Desert of Hadramaveth, and Zhongli raises a geo shield moments before a slab of concrete hurtles toward him, slamming against the shield and shattering in pieces on the floor.
From within the cloud comes a glint of purple and a low, dark laugh.
“Oh, xiansheng…looks like you don’t have much of a choice now, do you?” Childe emerges from the chaos, his hydro polearm crackling electro at the tip. “Don’t go easy on me. I won’t be holding back either.”
After one of Dottore's experiments goes wrong, Childe spends a week lost in the depths of the Abyss. Summoned to Snezhnaya to assist, Zhongli meets a darker, more tormented Childe than the one who left Liyue only weeks prior, tainted with an insatiable thirst for the Geo Archon's blood.
As Childe continues to struggle against uncontrollable transformations and his own dark urges, Zhongli contends with his own uncertainty in being able to assist before Childe is lost to the Abyss's call.
After all, how can one who is not human hope to help another regain their own humanity?
