Buck shivers as he thinks back to earlier in the day, at the way Eddie snapped his name like a whip across the radio when he did exactly what Eddie and Bobby both had told him not to do. At the frosty glad to hear it, Firefighter Buckley, when Buck called dispatch back to tell Eddie he was fine if a little bruised. At the way Eddie had called him at the end of the shift, voice low and quiet and commanding, hooking deep beneath Buck’s skin and stealing the breath from his lungs until all he could manage was a rasping acknowledgment before hanging up.
It could be seconds, or minutes, or an hour more, but finally the bedroom door clicks open and—
“So you do know how to follow instructions,” Eddie says, the edge in his voice not quite sharp enough to cut but a warning nonetheless. “I was wondering.”

Buck can't stop himself from doing the same. He's only a man. "This isn't out of nowhere, Buck - you know that. I lost the most important person in the world to me - but..." They're leaning closer now - mostly Eddie, Buck thinks, although he certainly isn't stopping it. "...the second most important person in the world to me is right here, right now, and you're..." he trails off again, breath hot as it washes over Buck's lips, their eyes falling closed. Buck swallows. "I'd love to be more of a gentleman about this, and I mean this in the most abstract and metaphorical, and least possessive way possible, but in the spirit of not wasting any more time than we already have, Buck..." the words follow each other quickly through a single, whispered breath. “I think I just dumped god,” Eddie says and then he bursts out laughing. He can’t control it, he knows he sounds manic, like he’s somewhere between laughter and a breakdown, edging closer to the breakdown. “Holy shit I did dump god.”
“I’m going to need just a little more than that,” Frank says and his face looks torn between concern and amusement.

Eddie dumps God, gets some more therapy, accepts parts of himself he was taught to hate, loves his best friend, and loves himself.

“Smells good,” Buck says, and Eddie hums. “It’s three am, you don't need to cook for me,” he ends up saying anyway.
“I’m not cooking,” Eddie points out. “I’m heating up leftovers. I made Linda’s mushroom soup last night.”
“Oh, that’s what that is?” Buck questions, immediately curious, as he takes a few steps closer, Eddie’s bicep brushing his clothed chest as he peers into the pot. As he does so, the scent only becomes stronger, wafting up into his nose. “Chris approved?” He asks, then, to which Eddie nods.
“Yeah,” he confirms. “It’s good - here,” he says, then, smoothly pulling one of the drawers out and retrieving a small spoon, which he then dips into the thick, pale soup. “It’s hot,” Eddie warns, as he turns the stove off, and brings the spoon up to Buck’s lips. Right as Buck parts his lips, Eddie hurriedly brings a hand up beneath the spoon, catching a falling drop, and in the process, the pads of his fingertips brush the underside of Buck’s chin, right as his lips close around the spoon.
(Or: Buck comes home from an extra shift, and Eddie makes him dinner.)
