Summary
Iris' future had always been made explicitly clear to her - maintain her virginity until the day she would be married off to a foreign prince in a loveless political match. She would live her life in luxury, so long as she provided her future husband with an heir. Her older brother would eventually become king of Betancuria, her home, and she would forever remain in her pretty and gilded cage until the day she died.
Vico spent his life fighting tooth and nail for every little scrap. Forced to survive on the streets at a young age, he was quickly swept up into the dark underbelly of Betancuria's crime rings where he was groomed and shaped by people far older than him. The one constant in his life was his festering hatred towards the King of Betancuria, Iris' father, for the numerous wars their ruler waged purely in the name of his own greed.
When Betancuria is besieged by a rival kingdom, the entirety of the royal family is slaughtered - bar Iris - and she finds herself in a position where the only person who might be able to keep her safe is a man who hates her only marginally less than he despises her dead father.
And Vico's protection comes at a price - one that Iris willingly pays if it spares her life.

He had thought of playing around with her of course. This young elf was a unique snowflake after all. First, he had aimed to spite Andruil.
Tricks and his little mischief in garnering more of the huntress' attention made him curious. Who was she? How was she so detached? He didn't expect to be so piqued with her but little by little, his little mischief made him so enraptured.
