“Tacos?” Lucas parroted with utter disappointment over having missed such an occasion.
“Yep.” Dustin popped. “With freshly chopped steak and everything. Like he cut up a hunk of steak and then chopped it into itty pieces and seared them up.”
Lucas audibly swallowed before he sighed, “Ah, man…”
Max leaned forward and stuck her head over the center console between the two front seats and lolled her head in the driver’s direction. “Don’t be a Scrooge, Steve. It’s a major cliche.”
“I know that you’re new here, kid.” Steve started, as if he were about to begin one of his ‘I’m more experienced than you’ speeches. “But my whole life is a cliche.”
(Christmas has come to Hawkins bringing with it scheming tweens, Secret Santas, and a Scrooge-y Steve. But he’s not the only one who hasn’t been poured a cup of cheer.)

Summary
May 31st 1986, two weeks until graduation. Robin, Eddie, and Nancy are all set to walk across the stage, Eddie being given a free pass after the whole ‘almost framed for murder’ thing. The three have been trying to be excited about their graduation, but it feels almost mundane to be excited when Steve wouldn’t be there. They would be sat out on a football field in the blistering heat while waiting for their names to be called, with Dustin and Max in the crowd, cheering them on in Steve's place. There would be fake smiles plastered to all their faces, no matter how realistic they tried to make them.
None of them have genuinely smiled since Steve got Vecna'd.
Sixty-Five days. Steve had been in a coma for Sixty-Five days. The doctors keep telling The Party that it doesn't look good, that Steve's injures had been severe, and that they didn't know if, when, he would wake up.
But they refused to lose hope.
He'll wake up.
It's just a matter of time.

Five times Steve Harrington didn't wake up, and one time he did.

Steve was adorable wearing Eddie’s clothes. He was stupidly sexy wearing Eddie’s clothes. Steve was unfairly breaking Eddie’s brain wearing his clothes and it was just downright indecent.
“Steve.” Eddie swallowed hard and lowered his voice. “Steve, go change.”
“What?” Steve’s nose wrinkled when he frowned. “Why?”
“Go change.”
“But I’m comfortable.”
“Go. Change.”
“Eddie, I don’t understand--”
“PUT THAT THING BACK WHERE IT CAME FROM OR SO HELP ME!” Eddie planted his feet and pointed violently at the crop top. “SO HELP ME STEVE HARRINGTON!”

Steve laughs. “You see me skate all the time.”
“Yeah, but there's always others on the ice. Now I just get to watch you,” Eddie says with a grin.
He slides down the bench to press himself right up against Steve, leaving no space between them. It jostles Steve, making him laugh again. Eddie laughs too, leaning in even further to nip at the curve of Steve's jaw.
“Ok, calm down loverboy!” Steve jokes.
“Me, calm down? Never.” Eddie replies. “But loverboy? Always.”Sometimes, Steve gets antsy in the off-season. The downtime can be rough after months of hard, nonstop work, and he occasionally goes to the team’s practice facility just to get the energy out. Eddie comes along this time around to keep him company.
