“I think he needs to go to the hospital,” Sid tells the nurse, who nods briskly and turns for a radio. “Nolan,” Sid continues. “Can you hear me?”
“Of course I can hear you,” Nolan says through gritted teeth. “I hit my head, I’m not deaf. Why am I wearing a fucking Penguins jersey?”
Sid speaks slowly, as if Nolan has brain damage. “Because you’re a Penguin, Nolan.”
Nolan stares at him. There’s no way Sid said what Nolan heard.
“I think I need to go to a hospital,” he finally says.

Zhenya was a little embarrassed to admit that part of the reason he had green-lit this trade to Pittsburgh in the first place was because of Crosby himself: his insane hockey, his wolfish smile, the lingering remnants of Zhenya’s boyhood crush. Zhenya propped his stick against the wall and stuck out his hand to shake.
“Hey,” he said, smiling and hoping it didn’t look too stupid. “Evgeni.”
But Crosby didn’t take off his gloves and shake hands like Hornqvist had. He waved his hand in apology, thick inside his dirty glove. “Hey,” he replied curtly. “Sid.”

Jonny had Patrick wrapped up against his chest, snug and cozy underneath the blankets.
“You should be out with the team,” Jon murmured into Patrick's hair, “You rarely go out anymore.”
“I don't want to,” Pat replied, looking up at his boyfriend, “If we can't be out in public, then I'll stay in the shadows with you.”
Or, Patrick’s a star hockey player, and Jonny is not. They meet anyway, and from there, it's a spiral of secret relationship woes and midnight movie dates (with an occasional handjob thrown in somewhere).

Summary
Sidney Crosby isn't a bad hockey player. He's had a good career, played across the AHL, even managed to play a few games in the NHL. The thing is, that career is coming to an end and, facing down a future without hockey, Sid finds himself making one last signing and flying over to the UK to spent a few years in the Elite League while he earns a degree.
He expects to play hard, get some coaching experience, and let his career fizzle out from under him. He doesn't expect Geno.

Summary
The trade had been a surprise. A new head coach can find a way to get whatever they wanted to build their ideal team. Ovi’s healing time, his age and slow rehab was not what the new coach was looking for. Ovi’s contract was bought out and he was up for trade. New blood and a good pick in the draft is what was at stake for the Capitals.
Sid knew the Ovechkin he played season after season was still in there, and he was going to make sure the rest of the league knew it as well. He, Geno and Ovi may end up spending more time than advisable together over the summer, but the Caps are going to regret every second of this trade. They would make sure of that.

It's not the worst way to spend a first heat -- not that knowing that would've been much comfort to Sebastian in the moment. It's not even the worst way he'll spend a heat over the course of his life -- not that Sebastian has any way of knowing that yet.
It passes in two days, and after the first sixteen hours, he's even able to take a shower and make his way back to bed. It's two days of testing on new tires that gets sacrificed this time -- unacceptable, as far as Sebastian's concerned. His father frowns when Sebastian explains his worry, his desire to keep his heats from interfering with his racing, but he doesn't say anything other than "OK, Sebastian," and makes an appointment with Dr. Pfleger for the next Monday.
