“None the less I will ask Maomao do you truly want to become my consort, the only one I will ever take, even if not tonight some night soon” the assertion shocked her, she didn’t know why, she knew that’s how he felt. She couldn’t help but look up from his chest to his face at the certainty he placed in those words. Even with the hesitation he had been riddled with since she first arrived tonight.

Near the end of her pregnancy Concubine Gyokuyou is attacked in the middle of the night. Maomao steps in to defend her and while fighting for her life ends up taking the life of the attacker while sustaining serious injuries.
While Jinshi steps in to care for her physically, Maomao deals with the mental turmoil of taking a life.
With Maomao vulnerable and Jinshi doing his best to be patient with her, something begins to bloom between them.
