Summary
The Fifth Blight was beaten back by the heroes of Ferelden - King Alistair Therin, Warden Carys Mahariel, and Warden Martin of Highever. With the breaking of the Blight came the breaking of the fellowship - and some who survived wish they hadn't. Martin, warden no longer, finds himself exiled to Kirkwall.
Resigned to a fate of obscurity, Martin somehow finds unexpected notoriety in his exile... through a certain woman named Hawke.
This is a novelization of Dragon Age II. Expect moderate AU with extrapolation, clarification and some addition to both the story and lore of Dragon Age II in order to better tell its tale. Changes to the deep lore are minimal, but expect most events to play out differently than they did in game. Martin's origin is unique from any in Origins.

Summary
The story of Dragon Age as seen by a fereldan expatriate. From the tail-end of the Fifth Blight to Kirkwall, and Beyond.
Moderate AU (Author's Universe). Starts with foundations in a relatively canon Dragon Age: Origins, moves on into a somewhat canon Dragon Age II. Stories are mainly expanded rather than completely altered. Pretty much no non-game story touching our main characters is canon - in particular the comics and novels. Many elements of these stories are still part of the lore but they are not heavily stuck to.
(Hopefully) More focus is stuck to the laws of nature/genetics/magic in this tale. Big differences are the return of Half-Elves (really only described in Dragon Age II originally), and an attempt to stick to the muddy tone of Origins & II (despite an eventual hope to make it to Inquisition).
Veilguard lore is to be ignored.
