Shadow and Sonic are rivals, they always have been. At least, that's how Sonic sees it. But ever since he gained his memories back, Shadow found himself drawn to Sonic. It started small, something he could mask as just resentment towards his careless nature and corny one-liners. But eventually, that want, that desire, it only grew and grew until it consumed him.
He doesn't care about anyone else.
He doesn't care if it makes him "crazy".
He doesn't care if Sonic doesn't love him yet.He will, because Shadow needs Sonic, and he won't let anything, anyone get in the way of having him.

Summary
Sonic and Tails are more than just best friends. They are brothers, and through every hardship that's been thrown at them, they've gotten through it together. But when Infinite's attack leads to Sonic's imprisonment and Tails believing him dead, holding onto hope becomes impossible. Infinite is planning more than just torture for Sonic. He wants to tear apart his mind until he can't tell illusion from reality, or remember if the young fox is his dearest friend or an enemy trying to kill him.
Tails, meanwhile, refuses to accept that Sonic is dead, and will do anything to get him back. But even if he succeeds, nothing will ever be the same. The war in the outside world continues to destroy everything that the gang holds dear, but when the damage is deep within, how can it ever be rebuilt?
