The first time, it was an accident.
He’d started telling Esteban a story, as he slowly walked back and forth across the room, because Carlos had told Cecil that Esteban liked listening to him on the radio, and that playing his show for their son often helped Carlos settle him down for a nap. His radio cadence was easy to slip into, and his exhaustion-muddled brain didn’t even register that he’d just started a traffic report until he was halfway through it. His son was still wailing, but at this point Cecil was out of ideas, so he just kept softly talking as he rubbed Esteban’s back and hoped eventually it would help, or at least he would tire himself out.
“And now, the Weather.”

He wasn’t sure how long he was at it before he finally heard Cecil’s beautiful voice come through the speaker on his hip with his customary introduction. Carlos felt his whole body relax as he let his husband’s voice wash over him.
And then Cecil started talking about mirrors, and Carlos froze.

Summary
Pulling his knees up to his chest, he rubbed his eyes and realized they were damp. Was he fucking crying about this? Why here? Why now? He took a shuddering breath in and it came out as a sob.
He stilled, listening. The water was still running in the bathroom. He had a few minutes at least.
Blitzø covered his mouth with his hand to muffle his sobs, and buried his face in his knees. He wrapped his tail around himself, and allowed himself one moment of weakness while no one was there to see him.
It would be quick, and he would get this all out of his system, and Stolas and Loona would never have to find out.

Fuck it, Stolas thought, and tore open a portal to wherever the alarm was sounding from. He stormed through and found himself in… Blitzø’s office? Blitzø and Mildred were seated on the couch, and Blitzø was wrapping a bandage around her wrist.
Stolas didn’t even falter. He walked straight up to Blitzø. “Are you alright?” he snapped.

Summary
Takes place mostly post-"Visitor", although there is a minor timeskip forward to the end of "Renovations".
Written for the prompt: "Carlos and Khoshekh, fluff and cuteness. After Khoshekh gets brought home, he and Carlos learn to live with each other. Even if mass amounts of Claritin are required."
Carlos is not a cat person, but he's starting to see the appeal. Anything that Cecil so obviously adores can't be all bad. After his attack by the StrexPet, Khoshekh is moved in to stay with them. There's a period of adjustment for all involved, but an understanding is eventually reached, and Carlos is forced to admit that cats aren't so bad after all. Even in Night Vale. Maybe especially in Night Vale.
