Takes place mostly post-"Visitor", although there is a minor timeskip forward to the end of "Renovations".
Written for the prompt: "Carlos and Khoshekh, fluff and cuteness. After Khoshekh gets brought home, he and Carlos learn to live with each other. Even if mass amounts of Claritin are required."
Carlos is not a cat person, but he's starting to see the appeal. Anything that Cecil so obviously adores can't be all bad. After his attack by the StrexPet, Khoshekh is moved in to stay with them. There's a period of adjustment for all involved, but an understanding is eventually reached, and Carlos is forced to admit that cats aren't so bad after all. Even in Night Vale. Maybe especially in Night Vale.

“You know dear,” she sighs, “It’s not polite to stare.”
His eyes flick back down to her, and she goes to pat his hand, before thinking better of it. Almost as if she were to meet some kind of resistance. Almost if the word interloper was synonymous with leper. Interleper. He snorts at the joke he makes in his head and the being hovering above the old woman tells him, “Good one.”
He stops laughing.
In which Carlos adjusts to his first year in Night Vale, and subsequently, the rest of his life.

Nilanjana meets Cecil Palmer on an incongruously rainy day when she needs a place to hide after being caught using a pen. To keep stay out of a detention cell, she is forced to go home with her boss and his boyfriend. Together, the three of them navigate the treacherous terrain of an impromptu shared dinner.
It's not the worst fate to befall an interloper. Still pretty awkward though.

Summary
Cecil makes a face that is stuck somewhere between fear, confusion, and bone deep concern. Carlos is fairly certain he’s making the same face right now too, so he settles for putting his hands on Cecil’s cheeks and saying, “we won’t let it come to that.”
It doesn’t do much to quell his fears, and by the looks of it, doesn’t do much to quell Cecil’s either.
“Carlos is right,” Dave agrees, “we won’t let it come to that. You don’t have anything to worry about, Cecil. Everything is going to be fine.”

Summary
Imagining Carlos as a father was a convenient fantasy. A private, convenient, and insofar improbable fantasy. Carlos had never mentioned anything about children of their own, he didn’t even ever ask him if he wanted children, but apparently, he had shown enough affection towards them to make an unrelated person casually comment on it, like it’s nothing, like it’s not suddenly turning Cecil’s world upside down.
Did Carlos notice too? Has he been thinking of having a child, too, and simply never mentioned it? Has Steve ever told him how great of a father Cecil would be?
This is getting less and less convenient by the second.
A short series of events that led to the existence of Esteban.

She pushes an old shirt to the side and softly hoots in surprise at what she has found.
An old film camera.
Via blinks in astonishment and carefully lifts it out of the box. The heavy weight is expected but it still manages to surprise her somehow. This is a really old model, vintage even! Via has never seen one like this in person, only ever in magazines or in old movies.
For a moment her heart drops because at a closer glance the camera looks broken. It's dirty and banged up and there are some weird markings all over the body. In some places the plastic looks almost like it has… melted?
She turns it in her hands and runs a finger over the lid of the film compartment. What looked like ordinary scratches are actually letters, deliberately carved into the surface, faded and barely legible.
