Meeting Detective Cara Mae Callahan complicates that plan almost immediately.
Cara knows Rafael Barba well enough to recognize the family resemblance, stubbornness included. She also knows better than to mistake Frederick’s arrogance for confidence or his sharp edges for the whole man. As an SVU case involving coercive psychiatric treatment pulls Frederick back toward the parts of his past he would rather leave buried, their attraction becomes something neither of them can dismiss.
Starting over turns out to be harder than changing cities.
It also turns out Frederick may not have to do it alone. -
