Summary
When Harry and Sirius tumble together through the Veil in the Department of Mysteries, they discover that they've landed in June 1942. After accepting that he and his godfather are stuck in the past, Harry comes up with a foolproof plan: befriend Tom Riddle, force him to develop moral compass, and stop him from ever becoming Lord Voldemort.
Meanwhile, Tom Riddle is very much not on track to become Lord Voldemort. After a tumultuous four years of dealing with Grindelwald and July's tragedy, he's just hoping to make it through term. And these blackouts he's having? Not helping.

Tom waits in silence as another calculating gaze takes hold of the elderly alpha’s features, it turns solemn in the end, indicating that he’s come to a conclusion.
“You live in muggle London don’t you?”
Tom didn’t have a good feeling about this, but even so, he gives him a reluctant nod of assent. The solemn look on Arcturus’ face turns sharp for a second before he bares his teeth in the mockery of an amicable smile.
“That’s settled then”
