Owen was dead. And Curt was stuck.
He was supposed to be moving forward, keep training, keep going, keep living. That's what he learnt to do, that's what he was trained to do. But he can't.
Of course he can't. Just because he made it out of the warehouse didn't mean he would keep moving like everyone wanted him to do. Expected him to do.
They don't understand, he can't. Because that would be leaving Owen behind, that would be to keep doing the things that got Owen killed.
Besides, it was his fault, why shouldn't he suffer a bit? The fall, the death; all his fault and his doing. He deserves this self-inflicted isolation (not that anyone else at the agency understood, if they did then where were they when Owen was falling?), and maybe he'll start moving again later.
Once he's... but no, that would mean moving past, FORGETTING Owen. He can't do that. Ever.

They are Curt and Owen today, but the next day one of them might look different. They could have a different name, a different accent, a different style. Married, single, divorced. The next day one of them could be dead but the day after they could be together again, alive.
The point is, they aren’t supposed to trust each other. They shouldn’t. because their world is so convoluted that trying to unravel it would end in flames. Yet they are here. Alive.
