Dream’s learned that five years can show you a lot. Families and abusers, love and abandonment, honesty and deceit, and so much of the cold. Bone-chilling cold that seeps into the inside of his small, blobby body in a way that makes him ache for the warmth of even the cruelest forms of love.
The cold didn’t bother him too much, however. After all, it led him to find a new family.
And man, this family was about to take him on a wild ride.

"So, uh." Tommy coughed once into his sweater, red with a blue heart sewn onto the left chest area. "Why am I here again?"
"We haven't talked much since...y'know." Tubbo might've been avoiding eye contact, but Tommy couldn't really tell since the slight tilt of his head could be Tubbo trying to see better from his good eye, or completely relying on his bad eye to avoid eye contact. "I just wanted to hang out with you. Here. Like old times."
"It won't be like old times," Tommy corrected, his wings shifting behind his back.
"I know." Tubbo shrugged, Tommy acutely aware of the sound his jacket made when he moved. "But it doesn't have to be."

Tommy is invited to hang out with Tubbo, Ranboo, and Michael for the afternoon, a break from being busy doing whatever Tommy does. Tommy is tired, but he accepts. He has missed hanging out with his friends anyway.

His father said nothing, only straightening to a standing position and revealing a pair of purple eyes replacing his usual green-and-red ones. They glowed ominously on his black-and-white face, leaving slight purple tunnels of light piercing through the dim light.
“Boo?” Micheal repeated, a little more desperate this time. His father stared blankly, as if unsure of what to do. Micheal’s excitement was corrupting into merciless anxiety. Dad was never this quiet. Dad was never this scary.or

Today, she wouldn’t worry about breaking curses or finding strange faraway lands. She wouldn’t worry about the weather or what she had to do tomorrow. Although those things may still reside somewhere in the back of her mind, today was her day off, and she wouldn’t think about those things as much as she could.

"Y'know Wilbur's going to blow the whole thing up at the festival, yeah?" Tubbo didn't make eye contact with his friend, choosing to stare at the setting moon in front of him.
"Yeah." Tommy huffed, sounding dejected.
"What if we just...left? Start somewhere new, very far away?" Tubbo asked. Tommy blinked, turning his head to look at Tubbo.
"You're suggesting we run away?"
"Yeah."
OR
Tommy and Tubbo run away just before the festival, and once they're safe they begin to work on all that war trauma.
