Summary
Since confronting The Operator, Jay's been a little out of it, leaving Tim to play the role of the domestic husband doting on his sickly wife. He gives Jay medication, feeds him when he's up, makes sure he drinks and uses the bathroom when he has the focus too. He’ll allow Jay to lean against him for stability or comfort, will smile softly and call him sweet nicknames he rarely let his mind think on other occasions.
And, for reasons he's unsure of, it seems to help. Jay will smile at the terms of endearment, he'll groggily reply, words heavy and slurred, but they're words nonetheless.
So Tim allowed himself to believe it was for the betterment of Jay’s recovery. That he was sweet on him because it was helping and not because of feelings he'd tried to tuck away.
