Summary
They don’t talk about it. The way Harry deflects any and all questions about his past and Louis pretends he isn’t confused or hurt by it. The way Harry keeps a distance between them and Louis acts like he can’t see it creating a wall between them. The way Harry doesn’t always answer honestly and Louis goes along with it as if he can’t tell. They don’t talk about it.
Harry knows Louis feels like he doesn’t know him well enough, and it pains him. It pains him every time Louis gets that look on his face that’s a mixture of disappointment, frustration, and confusion. And sometimes, self-blame. It pains him because Louis is wrong.
Because even though there is a lot Louis doesn’t know about him, there is so much that he does. He knows what Harry is like at his most vulnerable: curled up on this bed with him in the dark where it’s safest. He knows Harry in a way no one else does.

The first thing he notices is the light cyan wings and the humanoid body with bird like feet, clearly a harpy, a child one at that. Harry thinks the best thing to do is to grab him and pull him above water as quickly as possible, so air can make it into its struggling lungs. That was his plan, until he made eye contact with it for a split second and that’s all it took for a flood of emotions to hit him like a sailfish.

The other two boys were nodding their head in agreement. “How long of a break were you thinking?” Niall asked.
Liam had shrugged, “Dunno, maybe a year or two?”
Louis couldn’t contain the shock from his face, “A year or two, are you joking?” he said, finally breaking his silence.
Liam just shrugged in response. “It would give us time to really relax, we haven’t stopped in five years, I think we owe it to ourselves.”
Louis looked around the room at each of the boys, he could tell by the look on each of their faces that they were strongly considering it. “It wouldn’t be for more than that, yeah?” he asked quietly.
“’Course, mate!” Niall smiled. “It is just a small break, you couldn’t get rid of us that easily if you tried. We’ll still be on tour together ‘till we’re old and grey.”
Louis could feel three pairs of eyes on him, waiting patiently for his response. He sighed as he ran a hand through his messy hair and nodded, “I think a break is exactly what we need.” He finally said, trying to sound convincing, while on the inside he was screaming how much he did not want this.

"Um. A little while out of London?" Niall tries, seemingly the only one willing to not be mysterious and provide Harry with information, and. Oh.
"London London? As in, the capital of England London?" he asks, just in case he'd misheard.
"No, the other London," Louis laughs, low and biting. He comes closer finally, the moonlight just enough to reveal a sharp-cut jaw and pale skin. "Sorry, Pup."
Nobody's ever called Harry a "pup". Frankly, he finds it quite insulting, but he lets it slide to try and comprehend his current crisis.or the one where harry gets bitten by a werewolf. louis is the mysterious not-quite alpha, liam and zayn have Things going on, niall is their token human, and together, they watch a lot of TV.
