Martin smiled at him so warmly it could have melted a castle of ice. His round cheeks formed little dimples. "Bye, Jon!"
Words. Why did words not work right and his face feel like it was shaped wrong when someone looked at him like that? It made him angry and embarrassed and a half dozen other emotions he wasn't ready to identify.
And why did it have to be someone as dull and bothersome as Martin, of all people, to make him feel this way?

All Chad wanted to do was survive his years at Auradon Prep. He knew his disguise was supposed to help him stay safe, but he couldn’t help but think that maybe if people knew he was a prince, they might not bother him as much. Still, he wasn’t going to ignore his grandfather’s wisdom, so he kept his head down, at least until he ran into one of the new foreign exchange students.
He wasn’t connected enough to know where they were from – his grandfather didn’t like him using the internet frivolously – but despite their unconventional attitudes, Chad was pretty sure they were heroes. At least to him.
ALSO KNOWN AS – That time disguised Chad got into a mutually beneficial relationship with Jay that was all strictly business and not at all because they may or may not have feelings for each other. You know, that good ‘ole identify porn.
