Caitlyn wanted to scream. She didn't.
"Does she have a name?" Caitlyn asked, her voice falsely calm, a fake smile plastered on her face.
"Violet Krasqini, at your service. But you can call me Vi." She spoke for the first time, her voice raspy but more feminine than Caitlyn expected. The slow drawl of her tone made it impossible not to take it as a challenge.
"Well, Violet," Caitlyn began, pleased to see Vi flinch at the name, "I’m not going to pretend and tell you I’m thrilled you’re here, because I’m not. I’m not about to kneel down, let alone treat you like my hero. I’ve got one thing to ask of you, actually: stay out of my way.""
