In the end, it might all be far more interconnected than she expected.

His whole life was a series of masquerade masks, lined up on his wall to mark every moment where he’d lost himself to the whims of others. He’d been trapped by his purpose as a Darkner, then by his benefactor, then by the all-consuming madness of his quest for NEO, and finally, willingly, by his need to repay the endless debt he owed the heroes. If he really thought about it, he wasn’t sure he could remember a single moment that felt like… him.
OR: The nightmare is well and truly behind him and Spamton finally gets the chance to discover his own identity, no strings or societal expectations attached. He finds himself at a loss for who he is, unable to determine which parts of him were really his and which were products of what he went through. He ends up turning to the people who used to know him, in the hopes that they might be able to piece together the identity he's lost.

Summary
