    The memories from the night before flooded her mind and she bit her lip to hold back the groan rising in her throat. It happened again.

    “Hey Jax..” Pomni starts to call out quietly but upon seeing the back of his shoulders tense further she pauses.

    Are you okay? She wants to ask.

    But her gut tells her that that might not be the best approach with Jax yet. The memory of him hunched over the buttons console in despair, raw and full of hurt comes unbidden.

    “...What is this place?” She asks instead, relieved to see that his shoulders slightly sagged down as if in relief.

    Jax cracked one eye open and glanced lazily toward the far wall.

    “No idea,” he said. “Just another one of those rooms.”

    After the events of episode 7, Jax grows more withdrawn. When Pomni accidentally discovers the room where he’s been hiding, the two form an unexpected bond—and a new kind of trouble that extends far beyond just themselves.

    Caine is all powerful, they all know that much. He is capable of anything in this digital world. He is the circus, in a way.

    But he’s also a wacky AI. And tech like that can get buggy, no matter how advanced.

     

    Or: Caine glitches during an update and accidentally opens up the cellar, letting out all the abstracted cast members that were supposed to stay locked away forever. Jax shows he cares more than he lets on.
