"But gods help me..." Astarion sobs because they haven't. They would never ever help Astarion Ancunín. "I need it."
Over the centuries of unrelenting abuse, Cazador changed something in Astarion, irrevocably. But Astarion will not allow any part of himself to belong to Cazador. Not even the parts Cazador created. Not anymore.

Summary
Caleb was having a rough week. It was becoming very apparent, enough for people around him to notice. It was nothing new; it happened occasionally when certain anniversaries came around, or when a memory refused to leave him alone, or when his mind would decide he was just being too happy.
It was on those occasions that the air became thick and cloying around him like a cloud of perpetual smoke, making it hard to breathe. His mind would supply him with all the reasons why he wasn't worthy of the life he was leading, of his teaching position, of interacting with his betters: people who were innocent and untouched by darkness.

Caleb is spiraling out of control, pushing his friends and chosen family away, isolating himself from those who care about him. Eventually, Essek decides to do something about it. There passed a long enough moment of silence that Essek wondered if Bren might let the spell abate altogether without reply. Finally, though, the thread drawn between them plucked and rippled with a quiet hum.

But then Caleb stood up, facing him with less than a foot between them, and Molly’s posture almost collapsed when that aura washed over him, sending shivers streaking up and down his spine. His tail lashed for a moment before wrapping securely around his ankle.
“Fine,” said Caleb shortly. His face was carefully blank, but his eyes were bright, fiery, and his cheeks were red.
