And she bore little resemblance to the Mai sitting on the sofa, who wore the expression of a woman spoiling for a fistfight.
‘So,’ she said, ‘some dive you have here. Where’s Dartz putting me up?’
Valon barked with laughter. This was going to be good.
In the weeks leading up to the San Francisco mission, Mai and Valon form an uneasy alliance. Never mind the smashed crockery, failed scams and terrible decisions.
