He felt this unbearable feeling in every corner of his mind, the pits of his stomach, and the physical ache of his heart. This feeling was so consuming he felt like it was palpable, that he could rip it out and hold it in his hand as if it was a solid matter. Alhaitham had always been rational, well planned, thorough and tuned in on the inner workings of himself. However, this ... this unraveled, disheveled and uncontrollable feeling had started long before he was able to really reconcile with it. He felt it so intensely that his eyes would begin to feel building pressure as they held back the unbelievable helplessness that came with it. He’d feel it in his chest so much that he had learned firsthand the real meaning of heartache.

Summary
After weeks of silence born from a fight neither of them is willing to end, Kaveh and Alhaitham are forced onto a joint Akademiya mission into the desert.
What begins as strained cooperation quickly spirals into disaster when a collapse separates them from their team, and leaves them alone against a ruin construct that nearly kills them both.
When Alhaitham loses consciousness, Kaveh is left with a choice: stay and wait for help that may never come, or drag a dying man across miles of burning desert with wounds of his own.
