Hamlet sees Horatio's chest glisten with sweat when fencing and starts inventing excuses to get Horatio into stages of undress again. Both men wrangle with strange, sinful feelings.

Whatever Ratio had drunk, it must have been strong for him to be acting like this. “Yeah, Doc, it’s time you go to sleep-”
“I love you.”
Aventurine’s head whipped back into place to face Ratio. Those words couldn’t be real. Not coming out of Ratio’s mouth, and not directed towards Aventurine. He needed confirmation. He needed confirmation that this was real, he wasn’t dreaming, he wasn’t insane, he was here, he was real and that actually happened. Because not even in his wildest dreams would something as impossible as this occur. Desperately, Aventurine seized Ratio’s arms which were loosening around him as he looked to him for validation.
Aventurine stared at him in horror.
Ratio was passed out.

A drunk Ratio admits he loves Aventurine. Only Aventurine remembers the confession by the next morning.

Summary
“When I die, the IPC will reclaim all of my possessions. I have no surviving family members; nobody will cry for me.” The last bit comes from the collapse of wishful thinking. A bit of sentimentality. Is it part of the act?
Aventurine… nobody would cry for Aventurine. The man who went all in, who tried to bet against the world, the one with good fortune on his side. Flashy smiles, good perfume, and a crisp and clean fashion sense - the hollow shell, the disposable pawn, the uncannily lucky gambling chip.
“So in every sense that matters, I have nothing to lose.”
The crease between Ratio’s eyebrows deepens whilst his movements grow still, as if battling with some sort of internal conflict. Aventurine watched as he comes to a conclusion, turning his gaze to him fully, and then speaking,
“I’d mourn you if you died.”

Summary
What if he failed?
Isn’t the answer clear already? Another voice inside Aventurine’s head replied—the same voice that grew louder by the passing seconds. It means the death of those hostages, and perhaps, yours too.
To think that the renowned gambler himself was scared to lose was something no one should ever know, and Aventurine had been doing everything he could to hide it.
Or he was, until Ratio saw right through him and the trembling hand that he had been hiding this whole time.

Summary
As they come face to face, Veritas's fingers twitch against Aventurine's; his voice is strained as he asks, "Are you trying to seduce me?"
Aventurine isn't easily startled, but Veritas's question is so simply preposterous that he can't help but chuckle. "You're joking," he says.
"You're holding my hands," Veritas points out.
"Well, you allowed me to hold them."
"I'm cold."
"So, I'm not trying to seduce you," Aventurine says, thoroughly amused. "I'm just keeping you warm."
