Remus tried to be comforted by that, but he could just sense something was off. He knew what a real Sirius Black smile was. It wasn’t the dazzling one he flaunted with pride nor the smirk he gave all the girls who looked his way. No, the real Sirius Black smile was the one he would give Remus when they would share a bed and fall asleep in each other’s arms. It was soft and small and reached his eyes. It was one he hadn’t seen in months.

The sheer depth of it; the way it seemed to reverberate through the ancient boards of the very stage itself, from somewhere primal and secret inside him. And how it seemed to take him no effort whatsoever, and how his presence felt no less monumental for it.
A winter term at The Ullswater Institute: late-night rehearsals, dormitory karaoke, and secrets, kept in the labyrinthine corridors underneath the cavernous, frescoed auditorium.

There's something blazingly incongruous about Remus in the wintertime. He's golden: sunshine and honeybees, caramel curls and freckles like dappled sunlight. Even his clothes seem borrowed, and temporary, as if he might've just thrown on an extra layer for a moment in the knowledge that his own innate aestival nature would be quite enough to stave off the worst of the chill. Something at home in long balmy nights, and mornings when the gardens teem with life and song. Wonderfully out of place in the winter: a happy visitor to the season, an ember in the frost.
Christmastime in the Cotswolds: cold hands, crackling fires, and Remus's indefatigable quest for parsnips.

“Yes,” James hissed, “and he’ll knock my teeth out if I kiss his little brother.”
“You can take a hit, Potter, I’ve seen you on the quidditch pitch,” Regulus waved him off, and James groaned, leaning away from him.
“Oh, yeah, great, so I’m the sacrifice,” he sighed.
“Precisely,” Regulus stepped right into his space, and James felt his chest go a little hot.
