Summary
Louis swallowed and wiped his forehead with relief. Lestat’s face conveyed all the emotions in a flick of a second: joy, disbelief, awe, fear, anger, and, perhaps the realest of them all – pure fury.
“What the fuck are you doing here?” He barked, stepping closer and brushing Louis’s arm harshly. He seemed not to believe his own eyes.
Louis realized he was smiling. God, he missed his unpredictable husband, companion, maker so much.
“Hello, Lestat.” He mumbled. Their small joke once. He almost expected Lestat to say ‘Hello, Louis’ back. But no. Oh, well.

Summary
Lestat exhales, a long, drawn out breath, and then nods, once. “Don’t say I did not warn you, Louis.”
Louis clicks his tongue, and then waves his hand. “Well, you know, I mean, one only knows after, and…” He sees the darkening of Lestat’s gaze, and hurries to continue. “What I mean is, that nothing could have prepared me for the turning back then, mon cher, and nothing can really prepare me now. But… we will manage.”
Lestat’s gaze is shadowed. “As simple as that?”
Louis quirks an eyebrow. “As simple as that.”The muscles in Lestat’s jaw jump. “Promise?”
There is a lot in that simple word, a vulnerability that tears at Louis’ heart, and a desperation in regards to all that they have been through already.
He smiles softly, and then lifts their hands to kiss the blood tears off the skin. “Je promets.”

Louis realizes he is missing a piece of the puzzle that is Lestat.
When he realizes what kind of puzzle piece it is... he cannot let it lie, knowing it needs to heal.Series
