It started with a cursed extra X gene.
Damian had a destiny, and that was not becoming Robin nor the head of the Demon... Well at least not for know to one of these options.
The young woman first had to learn to live with a curse that all people carrying two X genes inhered from her grandmother Martha's side of the family.
If she was honest, maybe this curse was more like a blessing because it took her away from the pauper family that the Wayne's were and the incompetent institution that the League was.
Damian could be an adult and a kid if she wanted. She did not need any of them. A life was waiting for her Jump City with a career and allies.
But, dear, destiny had other plans for her.

He was a few streets from the hiding spot riding an overcrowded bus when he saw the headlines of The Gotham Gazelle that an old lady was holding, and his blood went cold.
“The Batman Does It Again! Batman has a New Robin!”
Under the headline, there was a picture of Batman down a street accompanied by a young boy, maybe younger than Jason, in a uniform similar to his but with the difference that he wore green tights under his red leotard, and Batman was… smiling. Jason looked at the date, it was July. The warehouse was three months ago.
Tears began to run down to his disfigured face.
No, Bruce would not do that. He could not do that to him. His dad couldn’t have replaced him. He was his dad, parents could not replace their children with new ones when one died.

There should have been nothing remarkable about two people in a busy cafeteria, but Becket takes in the familiar sight of curly hair, brown eyes, and a t-shirt with a science pun on it talking animatedly alongside Actual Anthony Edward Stark and promptly drops his lunch.
He gapes for a solid second, seeing but not believing. It definitely doesn’t look like Mr. Stark is forcing the kid to leave, or firing him, or escorting him to security given the relaxed smiles on both of their faces. If anything, Becket thinks Mr. Stark looks rather proud.
“So, uh, Mr. Stark definitely knows Roomba-Kid,” Becket says and discreetly tilts his head in the direction of the pair.
“Oh my god,” Jess says. She almost sounds gleeful. “Oh my god, he’s not just some random kid. He’s Mr. Stark’s kid.”
