“Sorry I'm late, Venat. I was stuck…in…traffic…” Estinien's voice trailed off as he saw the red-headed miqo'te seated across from the department chief. The man was short, even for a miqo, and his scarlet hair brought out his eyes the color of rubies. Estinien felt his mouth run dry as those eyes turned to him. Fury, the man was gorgeous. Surely this must be someone from Elpis’ Idol Division, here to talk about one of their upcoming television adaptations.
The silver haired and buxom department chief rose and smiled. “Just in time, Estinien. May I introduce the man behind the name of Oriane Janlenoux: G'raha Tia.”
Estinien blinked. The adorable little redhead in front of him was his beloved Oriane? Fury have mercy, the miqo'te was so completely his type that it hurt, and he was going to have to keep it professional?! But, Venat didn’t know. How could she? No one knew he was gay save his two best friends, Haurchefant and Aymeric, and they only knew because of the shenanigans they had gotten up to as youths.
“Hello Estinien? Anyone home?” Venat’s voice was teasing but friendly. “It’s not like you to space out on me.”

The letter was surprisingly personable, far more emotional than he remembered his friend to be in anything that may be seen by another. Half of it was reminiscences of days long past. The rest was a heartfelt plea.
Apparently, Artoirel had come down with a rare illness. It distressed him, which only exasperated his weak constitution, and he hoped a familiar presence would settle his mind the slightest bit. Emotions that Steph thought long gone came surging back. It had been no question that he would go, if it would bring any measure of relief.

“‘Meticulously competent, with a fiercely ascetic, understated style,’” Estinien answered with a wry grin. “But Aymeric has scores of good reviews to his name, as well as a BAFTA… two of them I believe.”
“And you won an “Eye” for Moen’s revival of Angels in America, and were nominated for a Tony too, some of the highest honors in Lighting Design, Estinien,” Toren pressed. “You’re no slouch.”
“I’m a techie, Toren, and Sir Aymeric is… well…” Estinien sighed and his expression grew wistful. “He’s theater royalty.”
“No,” Toren said, sighing again himself, “that’s what Haurchefant is, part of a regular acting dynasty. The Fortemps family is RSC royalty, the highest of the high in acting. And I’m also just a techie, and not even a designer like you.”
