Across from him, the militant monarch of the Germa Kingdom takes a seat.
Judge thinks that Sanji is a failure of a son. Zeff doesn't think that much of Judge at all.

Summary
There's no eggplant in the paper. There is, however, Monkey D. Luffy, splashed on the front page. He looks like he's praying, in front of what Zeff assumes is his brother's grave, and there is something written and crossed and written again on his arm. The letters and numbers don't mean anything. Or maybe they do, and Zeff is just not who the message is for.
Once again, Luffy is alone. Or he's not, not really, because he came back to Marineford with Gold Roger's first mate and a former Warlord, somehow. But once again, his crew isn't with him. In Zeff's book, that means he's alone.
Zeff wonders where Sanji is. Whether Sanji is still alive.

Sanji tilts his head back so that it rests against the dirty wall behind him. He’s still upright, somehow, through sheer stubbornness or spite. He doesn’t look like someone who only has tonight left to live.
In fact, he looks sharp. There’s no better word for it. His expression is still as peaceable as it has been since he arrived, but watching him is like watching a knife slide out of its sheath. He is, abruptly, dangerous. A tool made for cutting.
“If you knew where I’ve been, you would be terrified of me,” he says.

Or, tries to. He has to take stock of himself when it doesn't work, and concludes that the idea of leaving his body vulnerable in this place leaves him with too much of a bone-deep, primal discomfort. The kind of response leftover from having been born just another creature waiting to die.
Even though as far as he can see, this place is just a cave. No matter what Macaque implied. It was a cave with some kind of seal on it, yes, but just a cave.

Summary
Owner Zeff is a hard man, but a good one. He guides Patty and Carne into making better dishes than they could have ever imagined, gives them a home above the waves, and makes sure they get to eat, every night. There’s no days off save for errand runs, but Patty is a cook of the sea. He never needed those anyway.
But the kid – the fourth member after Carne – he’s… well, as Zeff calls him, he’s an Eggplant. Just nine according to the brat’s determined snarl, he can already cook circles around Patty and Carne when he can reach the counter. He knows what he’s doing, and is quick to correct what he doesn’t know. Patty feels like he should be jealous, but all he can manage to feel is a grudging sort of respect.
The kid is damn small, but he can cook.
Yet… there’s something off about him, that just doesn’t add up, and that alarms Patty more than anything else.
He’s just… weird.

Summary
When Sanji comes into school with a broken arm, Zoro dutifully signs the cast: a shit sketch of a sword, nestled between Luffy’s bright red straw hat and Usopp’s mechanical sketches. Beneath their ink, someone has drawn this huge pink spiral. Zoro finishes and looks up, sees that Sanji is looking right back at him. Zoro feels his face open, he can’t control his expression. He feels, with a sick jolt to his gut just like that day at the foot of the dojo stairs, helpless.
When Zoro tells Mihawk he wants to spend more time at the dojo, Mihawk is pleased. Zoro works harder, stays later at kendo practice, runs every morning, lifts weights until his arms shake the whole day through. And still Sanji comes to school bruised, hunched, pale.

Modern AU. The biggest fight of Zoro's life turns out to be something he can't fight back against at all.
Set in the same universe as 'The Night Shift' but can be read as a standalone.

Following his words was a pause long enough to make Victor shuffle and hold out Sasha a little closer. “So?”
“Only if you take this ridiculous outfit off of her.” Vincent scolded, moving his hand to brush through Sasha’s fur before taking her from Victor’s hands. He didn’t really even process the question, too busy staring at Sasha’s grumpy expression and swishing tail. “How cruel of you.”
