For this prompt at avengerkink: "Clint is out in the field by himself - but he is connected through comms to the team and Coulson at home.
It appears to be going well (it could be better), but then Clint says something in passing (something like "I wish I had an umbrella" or he calls Coulson "Phil"). Phil almost misses it, and even he's not sure. But he trusts his instincts and puts a stop to the mission and starts going into retrieval mode to get Clint out."

He frowns. Why would he be lying on wood? That makes no sense. He shifts again, trying to turn around, ready to stretch his hand out in search of a nightstand or something of the like that can at least give him some idea as to where he is.
But his movement is stopped short when his shoulder hits something soft right above him, mere inches in front of his face. He reaches out, touching the cushions tentatively. He presses into the velvet and goose feathers, and feels something hard and unyielding underneath them. Almost like a plank of wood.
He closes his eyes, trying not to hyperventilate, as an image is conjured in his mind. A terrible, horrible image.
After a few weeks of being terribly ill with the flu, Jaskier wakes up six feet under.

They'd been in a tavern in Lyria, Jaskier left the building to get fresh air, only to be knocked out by someone and taken. Geralt only noticed Jaskier being gone on his way back to the inn, and he tore the small town apart, brick by brick, desperately searching for his beloved bard, but there was no sign of the Sandpiper.
