I keep thinking of adolescent Sam in episode 7x03 ordering some kind of horrendous quadruple-shot coffee to keep him awake while he's researching a case. So maybe an outsider POV story with a young Sam who drinks too much coffee, is always studying weird-looking books, and doesn't seem to have a parent in evidence.Many thanks to the fab Alyndra for taking time out even at the panicked height of Big Bang season to beta, and for always challenging me and making my writing better by doing it. <3

Castiel’s newfound power to jump through universes has come in handy these past few years, and Jack has learned enough of Sam’s leadership skills to be able to hold down the fort back home so Sam isn’t eager to come back so soon unless they return with everything they hoped to find: a list of spell books, including some botany spells (Sam’s taken to gardening and Cas has actual bees as pets, it’s a whole thing), and also the number and maybe, just maybe, the friendship of one infamous angel named Aziraphale. Stubborn researcher and investigator that he is, Sam had found him, and in the beginning Castiel was even looking forward to make acquantainces.
It’s... not going according to plan.

When the 75th Hunger Games, the Third Quarter Quell, is announced to reap the Victors from the previous Games, Katniss is forced into the Arena again with even more deadly adversaries, whom some have put a hit on her. They are faster, stronger, smarter, and have known each other for far longer than they have herself and Peeta. Among these tributes are the three most dangerous, most powerful, and most mysterious: Castiel from District 5, Sam from District 8, and Dean from District 10.
Trust amongst killers is difficult but it may be the only weapon Katniss has that can save her and Peeta from the Hunger Games for the second time.
