Though the house showed the scars of time, seven young people gathered before it, their smiles radiant and their gazes determined.

“It certainly has potential,” offered Charlie with his signature smirk.

He stares out over the rooftop, eyes zeroing in on the ground. The rooftop door opens from behind him, and Charlie thinks if they come to get him now, he really might jump. He’d have nothing to lose if he was caught— his parents would be furious, and when his two broken legs have healed, he’d just run away. He’d find a life for himself, somewhere, somehow, or maybe he’d die in a gutter. That’s okay too. At least he’d have nobody to leave behind in that situation.
He doesn’t turn around, but instead of the booming voice of a guard, he hears someone take a seat to his left. He stares down at his hands, sees the shadow of dark pants and a jacket.
“You would think military schools have better security than this,” the voice says. Charlie turns his head, sees red hair and glasses. He blinks once, twice, and wonders how the fuck Steven Meeks has made it to a military school an entire state over.

Summary
“And, Charlie,” Alastor added, “communicating through a happy jingle does not mean that the message you deliver is of less importance. When you speak, others listen. In a place ruled by fear, you command a room without resorting to threats or violence. Very few can claim the same, dare I say not even Lucifer himself could do so. Your voice is stronger than you think, if only you heard it yourself when you talk in favor of others.”
After defeating the exorcists, all the residents at the hotel are trying to find a new normality while adjusting to the changes, but for Alastor the real battle remains, as he fights agasint himself and the leash that tightens around his neck. He used to pride himself about having no one to hold him down, no heart and no strings that could be pulled to manipulate him. Now, that statment doesn't ring true, no matter how much he tries, his static can't drown down that tune, as he hums into the soft melody of those around him.
