Summary
Luca's had plenty of time to get used to how things are in the big leagues. Plenty of time to learn the ins and outs, plenty of time to settle into the team dynamic and get used to playing with the two men he idolized his entire childhood.
Plenty of time to figure out how to get his head on straight after games, plenty of time to figure out how to decompress after practices. Everyone seems to have their own thing, except for Luca. He just can't seem to get his head on right. At least until he learns that sometimes, giving up complete control, is exactly what he needs. Luca Haas is an excellent vampire-hunter-in-training. Has he slayed a vampire before? Not yet, but he knows everything about them. He knows the supernatural abilities that they all share, how they tend to behave, their strengths, their weaknesses, how to track them, and, of course, how to kill them.
There is no weapon or object on earth that a human can use to kill a vampire except for a wooden stake. Luca himself has a couple of those wooden stakes stashed in his bag right now, because right now he is about to sneak into the house of one of the most notorious vampires of this generation and slay him.
Another vampire hunter came to this house recently and did slay a vampire, but not the one Luca is hunting. That other hunter left this vampire alive, for reasons Luca does not understand. He could have easily finished the job. But he didn’t. So that’s what Luca Haas is here to do.
