His expression remained neutral as he trailed his fingertips over the bedspread before gazing at her.
“I am,” he admitted softly with a slow blink, making her gasp and take a step back.
The confession stunned her. She blinked rapidly, trying to gather her thoughts. “B–But why?” She stuttered, looking at him with wide eyes.
It didn’t make any sense. He was her father, yet here he was – acting like a possessive ex boyfriend.
In a flash of movement, he was in front of her, thumb and index finger clasped around her dainty chin. She gasped, her lips trembling as she was forced to meet his oak brown eyes.
“Because he’s taken what’s mine,” he breathed, his voice bordering on a growl.
