Summary

Heroes who continue fighting with only two or even one life are praised as noble. Villains in the same position are treated as shameful reminders of failure—disgraces who should’ve disappeared already. Vigilantes? It depends on who you ask.
Hybrids are a common sight, and thanks to a strange “pandemic” a decade ago, attitudes toward them have become more accepting as their rates rose by almost 35%. But not all mutations are welcomed.

The man hovering over him leaned back, releasing Grian completely. Cold night air rushed in to fill the void.
“I guess it’s out in the open now,” the stranger hummed. “Shame. I wanted to avoid this.”
With the additional glow occupying the space between them, Grian was finally able to catch features that were lost in the prior darkness. His curiosity outweighed all else, and he drank them in greedily. As soon as he saw who sat across from him, alarms blared in his mind.
This man wasn’t a civilian, wasn’t even a hero.
“Hello, Doctor,” the villain mused. “You were quite the help today.”

Summary
Oda is not stupid.
He knows that Dazai is touch-starved. Knows that Dazai is touch-averse.
His guess is that when Dazai has been touched, it has not been kindly. Dazai flinches from touch, but he seems starved for it.(or: Dazai has a habit of turning up on Oda’s doorstep after his failed suicide attempts, and Oda figures out pretty quickly how desperately the loser needs touch even if he dissociates every single time it happens. Oda doesn’t really care how long it takes for Dazai to learn that not all touch is scary.)
