Summary
For every edition of Danganronpa since Danganronpa 4, the managers and scriptwriters of Team Danganronpa are making what they call an Inter-Prologue : they let all their candidates, just before they're brainwashed, know each other and explore the academy they will live in. The goal : explore the future realtionships between all these characters, and coming up with new ideas for their role in the story.
For Danganronpa 53, it's exactly the same.
Except it's somehow different, as always.

In a universe two steps to the left of one we already know very well, six teens are set to begin their first days at adventuring school and with it, the rest of their lives. When Riz is the one wielding an axe and Fabian is the one with an orb far too large to be reasonable as an arcane focus, some things are very different, while others are a little more familiar, but surely things will still work out for the best, right?

Thirteen people awaken in a vast mansion on an uninhabited island, with no memories of how they arrived. Their charge is to participate in a game- one which will delve into their pasts, unearth their hidden sins, and render judgement upon them, to be consumed by their sins or rise above.
Five years later, a memoir is written about the events, telling the hero's story of living, loving, and fighting amidst a field of flowers.

Nagito Komaeda, A.K.A. The Luckster, and his husband Hajime, or Mr. Elasticity, were forced to live mundane, average lives after multiple lawsuits and laws outlawing superheroes were made. Have no choice other than retiring, the couple have build ‘normal lives’ with their four children Rantaro, Shuichi, Makoto and their youngest Monaca. Chaos ensues with Nagito itching to get back into action and excitement of being a hero, Hajime’s old past coming to find him, and the two raising four super powered kids. And, well Kokichi too of course.

Beat the game, save the princess.
Despite his personal affinity for other genres, as the Ultimate Gamer, Fuyuhiko Kuzuryuu is very familiar with that premise. And soon enough, he finds himself living it. Thrown into a Killing Game soon after the discovery that his longtime online friend has a very particular Ultimate Talent, Fuyuhiko finds himself in actual danger for the first time in his life. He'll need to learn his way around social situations, and all sorts of other things, to save himself and protect his best friend among such strange personalities as a pair of Ultimate Lucky Students who can't agree which is the real one, and a mechanic even shorter than him whose size doesn't keep her from being full of vitriol.----
Currently on long hiatus, probably won't ever continue, please just read Mister Monokuma's Medicinal Murdergame instead.
Technically a prequel to Everybody's Brand New and Improved Killing Game Semester, but either can be read without reading the other.Series
