What if Chit Sang knew what Zuko did, knew what the Prince had stood up for, and thanked him? And what if that lead to more secrets coming to light, unable to stay covered when the sun choose to shine down upon it?
Aka, my take on how the Chit Sang would reveal what Zuko stood for to the Gaang + Hakoda, and how it would be seen. I did this all while listening to "Things We Lost In The Fire" by Bastille on repeat. (I had to, at some point, make an obligatory Gaang finds out about the scar with added spice!)

Zuko's breath caught in his throat as Hakoda reached out to pat him on the shoulder, a gesture meant to offer comfort. But to Zuko, it felt like a jolt of electricity, setting his nerves alight with panic.
Without thinking, Zuko recoiled, pushing Hakoda away with a force that surprised them both. The panic that had been simmering beneath the surface erupted into a full-blown attack, overwhelming him in a tidal wave of fear and confusion.Series

“Can’t,” Zuko grunted out, just as Katara pushed the cold compress closer. “Father says that if – if it’s my fault, I have to fix it myself. Asking for handouts after a tantrum is dishonorable.”
He’d said as much before, when the worst thing he’d shown up with was enough cuts on his knees to border the wrong edge of questionable. Sokka had never thought twice about the explanation. He knew that Toph’s parents had cut her off from time to time. Rich kid problems at their finest.
This time, though, Sokka took a good, hard look at the burns on Zuko’s arm. And he did something he’d never done before: he asked follow-up questions.
“How’d you get that burn, Zuko?”
Or, Zuko's made a habit of texting Sokka when he needs to be patched up. But when said patching up only ever happens in the middle of the night when his dads aren't home, there's only so much Sokka is willing to not question for the sake of someone he doesn't even know that well.
