After he saves Ellie, she is forced to trust the stranger and hopefully stop this group before Jackson gets attacked. But as the two get to know each other, Ellie soon discovers that there’s more to the stranger than meets the eye.

Alcohol. Antiseptic. Copper. Her throat seemed to swell shut, choking on the stench of it all as the shrill beeps of the machines all around her droned on and on. The scratch of the paper gown was infuriating, her skin mottled shades of blues and sickish greens. Angry red welts and lacerations lining her arms and cheeks, but none of it seemed to matter as she stared down at the long strip of a bandage that stretch from pelvis to the almost blackened skin of a knee. Only, this time it wasn’t her own flesh marred by a jagged web of stitches.
