She didn’t recognise the small clearing with the cabin in which they landed. A quick glance around told her this was Autumn. The golden trees and quiet breeze just screamed ‘Autumn.’ Screamed… Lucien. She wasn’t quite finished admiring the clearing when she felt his hand at the small of her back, guiding her towards that cabin. It was lit with candles, casting a peaceful, warming glow across the walls. And she couldn’t help but feel more at home in this small cabin, than she ever had in the manors spread across the Night Court.
“It’s Eris’, but he said we could borrow it whenever we liked.”Had he now?
“How presumptuous,” she replied quietly. Lucien’s responding grin made her heart falter, and she could feel herself giving in by the second. She had to look away, drawing her gaze to the pictures lining the walls. She drifted over to them absentmindedly.

Avelina stood guard outside her Lord’s rooms, arms crossed over her broad chest as she surveyed the corridor. No one would get this far into the manor, and she knew that’s why he stationed her outside his rooms. She had been ribbed and taunted over his apparent favouritism for quite some time. She took it all in stride, smirking at the jabs and arching a brow at her fellow swordsmen.
“You have been brave,” the woman spoke, her voice warm like the sun and crisp as the fallen leaves. Avelina swayed slightly in her grip. “It is not yet your time, mortal. Give your name to me, and I will make sure you are safe. Give your name to me, and you will serve your purpose yet to come. Give your name to me, child, and you will live to tell this tale to one who needs to hear it.”
“Fine…” She wasn’t ready to die. So she agreed. “My name is Avelina.”
“Give it to me.”
“It’s yours.”

He dragged himself to his feet, staggering as he caught sight of himself in the mirror. Tamlin had always looked like him. His mother would disagree. She’d always said his father’s icy gaze held the weight of his court. Tired as Tamlin was, he could see that weight in his own. His hair was a mess, too. Brown peeked through the blood coating him.
He stared back at the reflection of his father, and his gaze hardened. He stood up straight and squared his shoulder. He would not be like him. He would find a way to avoid being like him.
“Hear me, Court of Spring. From this day I reject the name that follows me. So ends the reign of Òranagaoth. I am Tamlin, first of my name, and I will rule the Court as it deserves. See me and rejoice, as I alone will breathe new life into Spring, and I will give you the court you deserve.”

Tamlin Week Day 5: Biting/Chest
The scratching of a quill against paper was his only source of comfort these days. He had no one else to turn to. When that pulsing power of a High Lord born anew became too much, he found himself sitting at a desk. He’d broken a few quills in the past few days. He’d struggled to come to terms with his power.
When he was finished with the letter, he did what he always had done. He reached for the small chest he kept in his window. The latch was slightly rusted with age, and the hinges creaked as he pried it open.
For day 5, I decided to take a different direction to my first instinct. Focusing on the word Chest, I decided to have Tamlin air out his grievances in letters he would never send, but perhaps he would have liked to one day.
