Summary
Maybe the Tsaritsa should’ve picked someone else.
Anyone else would’ve noticed how strong the pheromones around Zhongli were.
Zhongli had quickly become a constant in his life in Liyue, initially only coming to the funeral consultant for information on the archon of contracts, but it quickly divulged into one of Childe's first friendships in his adult life. Well, maybe Childe had begun to wish for more, but for a broken, twisted Harbinger a friendship was already more than he deserved.
Or; the abyss took away his chance to live as an omega, that is until he met Zhongli and that all changed.

Summary
Childe never wanted to kill anyone.
Forced by the dire need to provide for his family, he had no choice but to join the infamous Fatui. Climbing the ranks, the criminal organisation offers him the job of a lifetime - assassinate Rex Lapis, the most powerful man in Liyue. Childe is an excellent marksman and had shown his prowess time and time again, making this near-impossible job impossible to refuse.
He has the notoriously charismatic Rex Lapis at his mercy in his crosshairs when a momentary blunder in concentration renders him unconscious.
He wakes blindfolded and bound with only survival on his mind, struggling against both his restraints and own will to make it out alive. Only wanting to return home successful, he comes face to face with his target who suspiciously has no killing intent. Rather, the enigmatic "Zhongli" seems to be far more interested in establishing a contract with him instead.
