With the world all but ending, there isn't time to focus upon the tragedy that is her own love life or the resurgence of feelings she suddenly has for one person she really, truly shouldn't. In the midst of said disasters, all she can do is roll with the punches and try survive.
Steve Harrington, well he is just a glutton for punishment and cannot seem to stay away despite every instinct telling him to go. His cards are on the table and all he can do now is wait for Nancy to play her hand.

It’s the middle of the night, a red glow is filtering through the curtains, and Nancy once again finds herself naked in Steve Harrington’s bed, watching him leave.
He’s sat at the end of the mattress, leaning to pull on his discarded socks, his shirt still missing in the rubble of the evening’s activities. If he knows she’s awake, he doesn’t acknowledge it, which leaves Nancy to stare at the expanse of his back- at the freckles she can spot even in the dark, and the angry marks she’s left against his shoulder blades.
The sight isn’t unfamiliar.Steve never sticks around for long these days. And wishing he would stay is a solitary, selfish pastime of Nancy’s.

With all of the deliciously fucked up things I wish could have been in a YA novel. Allegiance shifts, sanity crumbles, and at the end of it all they have to ask themselves, was it worth it?
