Summary
This was suddenly much, much bigger than just Astarion and the scars on his back and the nightmares that haunted him. There was, in fact, a very solid chance that Astarion was the sole living victim that could help unravel whatever horrors had taken place.
They looked at each other for a long moment; he could see nothing but pure fear in Astarion’s eyes.
“I’m fucked,” Astarion finally said. “Fuck. FUCK HIM,” he howled, doubling over again, sobs tearing out of him. “This was supposed to be OVER,” he finally managed to get out.

Astarion felt nothing. He wanted to run and hide to lick his wounds. He wanted to be free of this pain and agony.
He was so hungry and tired.
Maybe he would finally get his wish.
[Astarion was never picked up by the Nautiloid. When he is tasked to bring a new victim home, he ends up getting captured and taken prisoner. It is only a matter of time before Cazador starts looking for him-- he doesn't know what he should fear more.]

The shivering figure in the cell corner had stopped screaming now that Natasha had stopped speaking to him, and instead was just shuffling himself helplessly into his corner. Shudders raced randomly over his body like electric shocks, making his half-twisted spine twitch under his skin.
“What did he say?” Tony asked.
Natasha closed her eyes. “Numbers. He was repeating numbers.”
“What numbers?”
“Three two five five seven zero three eight.”
“Which means?”
She opened her eyes, the green flashing.
“What numbers would any prisoner be chanting? It’s a serial number, dumbass.”
Tony already had Jarvis running the numbers through a military database, and before she had finished speaking, Jarvis had fed a name to him.
Tony slipped his helmet down to stare blankly at Nat.
“...It can’t really be him,” he said, as if hoping she’d agree and have a different, reasonable explanation. “He shouldn’t have survived that long.”
“I know.”
“He CAN’T have survived that long.”
“Steve did,” she said softly.
