Summary
Ink isn't a real person. They can't love people-- only characters. They only need to love characters to protect the multiverse. That's their purpose, they don't need anything else. They weren't made to have friends.
Dream is the Guardian of Positivity. He can't feel negative emotions-- making him a perfect, tireless Guardian. He doesn't need rest, he doesn't need friendship or comfort. Helping the people of the multiverse makes them happy, which makes Dream happy. He doesn't need anything else, either.
At least, this is what they both believed, until Ink teleported to their shared base, and found Dream curled up on the floor of a rarely-used bedroom, uncontrollably sobbing.

Summary
Nightmare was not weak. He was feared across the multiverse. He had numerous negative worlds under his domain, and his reach only spread with time. He was among the most powerful beings of the multiverse, practically considered a God…and yet.
That thing, brought him to his knee's.
When Nightmare finds a new threat in the multiverse, he also found a terrified little skeleton with a black splotch on his left cheek and a tiny heart on his right. According to his CHECK his name was Ink.
Somehow, Ink was connected to him. He had abilities that proved useful when Nightmare could not fight against that creature's offenses.
So, logically, Nightmare took Ink home. Sure, he's only seven, and highly traumatized, but that will make raising the perfect recruit an easy endeavor.
...right?

A long time ago, a skeleton with black tattoos found themselves alone in a white void, in one story, that skeleton went and became beloved by the multiverse that he protected, but in another, in this multiverse, that skeleton never took that journey, and stayed hidden, avoiding attention, the multiverse remaining unaware of their existence for years and years and years...until someone, dream, noticed.

I always liked the image of ink being a homeless hobo skeleton creature with no sense of shame or social norms, having no idea how to math because they have no actually education and basically clinical insane, I also like to imagine that by following his rule of "don't interfere with the goings on of the multiverse" he would act feral as fuck, So this is exactly what this is, dream and blue basically trying to tame the multiverse guardian ink. but like way more plot based)Series
