She wanted to apologize, it was all her fault, she should have fought harder, she shouldn’t have given Hunter the key –even though the key was useless now, even though she had to, otherwise the Emperor’s coven was going to hunt Luz down and Amity wanted to protect her.

The Oracle crystal ball was the first thing Luz saw as she woke up. Warm sunlight illuminated the small orb, reflecting lazily off its smudged glass. ‘Property of Hexside’ was stamped on the base in black ink. Just another detail the human had overlooked the night before. Slowly her memories of yesterday came back as she stared at the little crystal ball.
She opened her window and chucked it out as hard as she could.

Summary
Two months have passed since Emperor Belos captured Eda, forcing Luz to make a drastic decision. In return for curing Eda of her curse and letting them leave in peace, she gave Belos the portal to the human realm. Before slipping away, she managed to destroy the portal with some well-hidden glyphs, insuring the Belos would do no harm.
In these two months, Amity Blight has been slowly losing her mind.
Her crush on Luz had been growing stronger every day, and it was a miracle that she hadn’t noticed. Maybe she could finally work up the courage to tell her how she felt? How long could she keep her parents from finding out?
Meanwhile, Eda had growing concerns over how the Blight children were being treated and one very smitten kid to worry about. Hopefully nothing came of it, though it wouldn't be the worst to have a few more mouths to feed, right?

Summary
It's sophomore year at Hexside University for Amity. Studying art history against her parents' wishes, she picks up a job at the campus coffeeshop, Hexbucks, her freshman year to make some money. It was a great gig until she changed her schedule, and was stuck on weekday nights with the worst customer she's ever had to deal with. The two stay strangers, for the most part, until second semester rolls around. Suddenly, Amity sees the brown-haired girl in her art seminar, and the two find themselves spending more and more time together.

Having a daily routine that consists of skipping classes and getting into fights with assholes while also not having the greatest relationship with her guardian, Luz is tired. Her grades are lacking but she doesn't care- she doesn't have the energy to care. After getting noticed by school figures because of her lackluster performance, Luz is introduced to Amity Blight, a girl who is the definition of perfect. She has her life together- she's the school's role model and captain of the volleyball team for crying out loud! Amity is everything that Luz isn't and she hates that. When Principal Bumps assigns Amity to help bring Luz's grades up, the two opposites find themselves in a sort of rivalry- the kind where each has an irrepressible hate for the other. At least, that's how it all started.

Expectations: something that had been weighing down Amity Blight's shoulders for as long as she could remember. From aiming to be the top student at Hexside to being Little Miss Perfect in front of her parents- constantly, every day, all the time, round the clock, day and night, and however many other words there were to describe it. Luz Noceda: a delinquent at Hexside who had always caused trouble, stirring up fights with her peers. The hatred that they shared between them was mutual but Luz was also the key to Amity's plan. Setting aside her hostility for the other, Amity asks Luz to fake date her for one semester to spite her parents. Much to her surprise, Luz agrees, for the sole purpose of filling up her life during senior year. Sure, although the pair was an unusual couple, their fake feelings and performance worked towards the goal of appearing perfect. After all, they were only acting- right?
