Summary
The result of their monthly visits to Jim's Nana was a generous stock of fruit, more than enough to share even if Stede hadn’t been inclined towards good manners. That was natural for the Gentleman Pirate, yes? So it was nothing at all to offer Izzy the last of his orange, wrapped in an embroidered silk handkerchief to keep his fingers clean.
The inconsequential nature of the gesture made it all the more shocking when Izzy flinched, staring at the orange as if Stede had just offered him salvation, not a bit of fruit.

Based on the prompt:
"It was a raid that looked like it had gone right, the crew of the Revenge taking a ship. Mayhem, plunder, blood and destruction. Up until Ed realizes that Izzy is missing. Part of the ship has been destroyed by cannonballs, and unfortunately Izzy was in the midst of fighting when that section of the deck gets struck, cannonball narrowly missing him, but burying him underneath all the debris.
He's badly injured when he's found, but nothing critical. The worrying part is that he hadn't answered them when they were digging around, yelling for him.
Izzy has lost his hearing. (Temporarily. But they don't find that out until much later.)"

He hums. A moment’s silence. Then he says, “Izzy, Izzy,” in that slightly comical sing-song he sometimes does when he is in one of his strange moods. “Will you get rid of him for me?”
