“The thing you said - the fantasy.”
Eddie goes very still and stops typing. He trains his eyes on his laptop screen.
“About me assaulting you,” Richie says, because if he can’t say it out loud then he definitely shouldn’t be contemplating it.
Eddie slams his laptop shut and pinches the bridge of his nose. “Rich,” he says, “I promise we don’t have to talk about it. I don’t want to make things weird.”
Richie watches Eddie for a moment. It’s a delicate line, he knows - if he spooks Eddie, it is liable to make things wildly fucking awkward for an extended period of time. But if he backs out now, lets it keep gnawing at the both of them until they’re raw and tense and ready to burst - well, Richie knows how those things turn out.
“We should talk about it,” Richie says. “You brought it up,” he says, when Eddie frowns at him. “And now I’m bringing it up. Communication.”

“So, uh,” Richie leans heavily into the door, running a hand through his hair. “I think I’m finally drunk and exhausted enough to – ” he takes a deep breath, paired with a markedly awkward laugh. “To ask. Did you uh – So. So. In like 1997, my improv group from Rochester did a guest thing at NYU? And after – ”
“Yes,” Eddie interrupts, realizing what Richie is asking with a sear of heat across the back of his neck. “That was me.”
“Oh,” Richie intones, though it comes off as more like a choked exhale.

Summary
When Eddie googles the name of the agency, he’s surprised to find a fairly sleek-looking site. In clicking around, he finds more euphemisms that only barely disguise the true intentions of the site. He can filter by categories, some of which are obvious - alternative, Latin, urban - others which are a bit beyond his vanilla experiences - electronica? Sounds painful.
He frowns at one labeled “Comedy”. That can’t mean just funny strippers. He doesn’t think anyone really wants to be laughed at when their pants are around their knees. Could it mean...sex workers who are less conventionally attractive?
Or: Richie books a gig. Eddie books a prostitute. Neither of them ask enough questions.
