    Perhaps you should have known that you had lied to yourself about having stopped loving him before it suddenly mattered again, and in such a momentous way. But you hadn't, and with everything on the line, there's no time to question what is truth and what is fiction. You can only hope that after the performance of your life, the truth can emerge for the curtain call.

    Roper mentions early on that Jonathan was married for six months, and his ex-wife is never mentioned again in the show. And thus, this fic was born.
