After Strange gave up the Time Stone on Titan, it felt like only minutes passed before Tony Stark witnessed everyone fade to dust. Before Nebula confirmed what he believed as he felt Peter Parker slip through his fingers.
But what if the cosmic scale had tipped another way?
What if, instead of Nebula, Peter had survived the snap?...
This will follow both Peter and Tony through the five years after the snap, and will ultimately be Endgame compliant by the end, despite what might happen in the mean time.
This isn't going to be an entirely happy story, nor is it going to be entirely sad.
MCU compliant all the way until Thanos snaps his fingers. After that, anything could happen.

Summary
A year after the Winter Soldier failed his mission in DC, Bucky Barnes is doing his best to stay under the radar from both Hydra and Steve Rogers. His hope for a peaceful day-to-day life in limbo goes awry, however, when he meets Queens’ newest hero; a pure-hearted kid with a death wish and a ridiculous pair of red and blue pajamas.
The last thing Steve expects when he finally tracks Bucky down is that, not only has the man been living in Queens all this time, right under his nose, but also that, in the two years since they last saw each other, Bucky somehow acquired a kid.
Alternatively: How Peter Parker effectively fucks over Bucky Barnes, and also totally saves him.

Peter was looking forward to the summer, and really, the upcoming year. He had a stable home life again that provided him all the love, affection, and food he could ask for. It didn’t matter that past fears, memories, and uncertainties started to crack the facade, he had work to do. There was a giant lizard man living in the sewers of New York and Peter was going to help him, whether he liked it or not.
Tony Stark was not looking forward to the rest of the summer or the upcoming year. He knew he wasn’t going to get to see his new family as much as he wanted to with the Avengers reforming. And when he was with the team they fought constantly to the point where he ended the day, he wished he still drank. It was going to take a lot more than forced team building exercises and group therapy to get them where they were before.

The Rogues are back; Tony Stark couldn't even be mad about it - it was his idea after all. He's an Avenger and that means protecting the Earth at any cost - even if he has to deal with a certain star-spangled man and his sullen sidekick. After all, he's been through worse in his life; the loss of his wife and the disappearance of his son 12 years ago. Compared to that, this would be a walk in the park.
Bucky Barnes is back on US soil as a free man. But freedom is more than just physical. On top of that, Steve is desperate for him to be the man he was before. The only problem is; that man is long dead.
Peter Parker has been through the mill but he knows he just had to adapt, roll with the (many) punches and keep going. Spider-man is his safe place now, the one time he could truly feel like himself. Like he is making a difference. He'd make sure no one would suffer like he has, even if he has to track down the perpetrator himself.
